Current Status of Mac and Apple Silicon Support
As of October 16, 2026, we found no statement on Mac or Apple Silicon support in the documentation of Black Forest Labs (BFL). Because there is no published confirmation, we do not claim that FLUX 3 Image Klein works or does not work locally on a Mac.
The model has 5.6 billion parameters for the image generator, paired with a separate Qwen3-VL-4B text encoder. All verified hardware claims from the vendor and integration partners currently refer to NVIDIA GPUs:
- Black Forest Labs documentation: Lists an NVIDIA RTX 3090 as the minimum GPU to run the open weights.
- ComfyUI documentation: States that its INT8 version runs on GPUs with 8 GB of VRAM.
You can read the full breakdown on our VRAM and hardware requirements page. If you still want to inspect the files or read the FLUX Kommunity License v1.0, see our download guide, though you must log in to Hugging Face and accept the license before downloading.
Ways to Use FLUX 3 Klein on a Mac Today
If you use a Mac and want something that works today, you can run the model on remote hardware. Your Mac only needs a web browser or a terminal to send requests.
| Option | How It Works on macOS | Access Details |
|---|---|---|
| Klein Studio (Browser) | Generate and edit images in your browser at Klein Studio | Free for 3 images a day at 1K resolution with no sign-up. |
| BFL API | Send HTTP requests from macOS Terminal or your own code | Direct API access from Black Forest Labs. See our API guide and pricing details. |
| Rented NVIDIA Cloud GPU | Rent a cloud machine with an NVIDIA RTX 3090 or an 8 GB VRAM GPU | Run the open weights or the ComfyUI workflow remotely from your Mac browser. |
| Other hosts | Use a third-party host from your browser | Replicate has a community LoRA version (replicate/flux-3-klein-image-lora) billed by run time on an L40S GPU. fal.ai lists per-image prices marked “Planned”. |
1. Run It in Your Browser on Klein Studio
Klein Studio (flux3klein.org) is an unofficial website and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Black Forest Labs. It connects to Black Forest Labs’ API in the background. On any Mac browser, you can generate images from text or edit one uploaded image by instruction. Every visitor gets 3 free images per day at 1K resolution without signing up. Note that the model card states FLUX 3 Klein is meant to be used with a prompt upsampler, as short prompts used directly give mediocre results.
2. Call the Black Forest Labs API Directly
Mac developers can call the BFL endpoint directly using standard tools like curl or Python. You send a POST request to https://api.bfl.ai/v1/flux-3-image-klein with an x-key header and a JSON body containing your prompt. The response gives you a polling_url, which you query with a GET request until the status is Ready and the result holds the image link. See the API page for prices per output size.
3. Rent an NVIDIA GPU in the Cloud
If you need to use the gated weights from Hugging Face or run a custom node setup, you can rent an NVIDIA GPU instance from a cloud provider. Pick an instance that meets Black Forest Labs’ minimum (an NVIDIA RTX 3090), or 8 GB of VRAM or more for ComfyUI’s INT8 version, and connect to the remote interface from Safari, Chrome, or Firefox on your Mac.
Where to Watch for Updates
FLUX 3 Image Klein was released on October 15, 2026 (with the Hugging Face repository created on October 13, 2026). Because the release is recent, documentation may change. Check these primary sources for future Mac or Apple Silicon updates:
