Model Release Details (October 2026)
October 13, 2026: Hugging Face Repository Created
Black Forest Labs created the repository for black-forest-labs/flux-3-image-klein on Hugging Face on October 13, 2026 (UTC). The weights are open, though access is gated. Users must log into a Hugging Face account and accept the FLUX Kommunity License v1.0 before downloading the files. You can read more about getting the weights on our download guide and check the rules on our license page.
October 15, 2026: Release
Black Forest Labs’ release notes and press coverage give October 15, 2026, as the release date for FLUX 3 Klein. The architecture uses a 5.6 billion parameter image model paired with a separate Qwen3-VL-4B text encoder. According to the BFL documentation, the model supports:
- Generating images from text prompts up to 4K resolution.
- Editing images by instruction.
- Combining up to 10 reference images.
- Controlling image layout with bounding-box coordinates.
- Rendering text inside generated images.
The model card notes that FLUX 3 Klein is meant to be used with a prompt upsampler (prompt expander), and states that short prompts used directly give mediocre results. Regarding local hardware, BFL’s documentation lists an NVIDIA RTX 3090 as the minimum GPU, while ComfyUI’s documentation says its INT8 version runs on GPUs with 8 GB of VRAM. For local setup details, see our VRAM and hardware requirements and ComfyUI guide.
